95% of all cutting is done in distilled water. For ultra rare carbonaceous and things going to science for deep study, dry cutting is the only way to really do that. It wastes a lot of saw blade and also some material, but is the cleanest and least contaminating. There are some times when you're cutting Irons or Pallasites where you use a thin amount of cutting lubricant made to be diluted with water and used in cutting high metal samples. Either way as soon as you're done, soak it in ultra pure rubbing alcohol for several hours. Then put in a dehydrator or convection oven overnight at a low temperature.

@@TopherspinMeteorites Thanks but I haven't found a test it can't pass. It 's looking like it will be the 68th ever found. Working with UGA. Fusion crust with shock veins, slaggish looking,metallic rainbow, dark green oviline black blue purple plum rose. It feels like a dream.

Good luck. I've never heard of the UGA being involved in any meteorite classifications. BTW: There are 145 non-Antarctic Pallasites published on the MetBull already.

@@TopherspinMeteorites my "2nd" go round was in 2006 when I purchased my first metal detector and thought I was a meteorite man. But nothing but coins and trash were to be found in my neighborhood. My 3rd go round began a month and a half ago which was finding what turned out a meteor wrong and then stumbling across you channel. At the same time I binged all of Meteorite Men and now I'm wondering if I could somehow build my own deep sensing loop detector and run it over my woods to see if any non-man made metal objects are buried 8 feet in the ground! LOL
